Phyllis Dobbs in Studio

Phyllis in her treehouse like studio.

Doesn’t it make you feel good to smile? Phyllis is all about creating smiles with her art created in various styles. Fun and vibrant colors, whimsy art and design – these are all infused in everything created by Phyllis.  She in turn licenses her art for fabrics, gift, garden, stationery and bedding and bath products, all generating over 12 million dollars in retail sales.  Phyllis adds this same love of color and whimsy in her patterns for quilting and sewing.

Phyllis has been busy creating for quite a while. She started her creative career 30 years ago by designing counted cross stitch, quilt and sewing patterns, creating over 1000 designs and patterns for product lines for manufacturers, books, magazines and kits. She is currently focused on licensing her art for products and and designing quilt and sewing patterns.

During the process of painting and designing, Phyllis developed extensive computer skills with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign in addition to other specialty software programs for formatting her art, patterns and publications.

Phyllis’ art is also on a multitude of products in her online Zazzle store.  Most can be customized with your personalized information. She also has fabric designs on Spoonflower and quilt and sewing patterns in her Etsy shop.

Now for a little personal information – Phyllis grew up in Mobile, AL, where she gained a love of the coast. She received her formal design training at the University of Alabama, where she also gained a love of football in addition to her education.  Since college, she has enjoyed living in Birmingham AL with her husband and spoiled cat.  She creates her art and designs daily in her studio that overlooks woods with a treehouse view.
